Watches! by Slight Lee Strange on 1999-09-20 15:08:24

What kind of watch do you have on? Or if you don't have one, what kind would you want if you could have any kind you wanted?

I have no watch. I am one of those people who annoys everyone by asking the time regularly. Its cheap easy and free.

Following immense pressure, I have gone and acquired a watch so I annoy fewer people. I still ask them the time though. Anyhow, watch design; Its just a plain analogue watch. It says the time, I say thanks and we all go home happy.

I love my Barbie watch from Fossil.
I HATE digital watches. It seems kind of ironic to me that in the era of info-graphics, people would prefer an interface they have to READ (digital) over one that is essentially GRAPHICAL (analogue). With my analogue watch, I can see time passing without requiring language as an intermediary. Much better, I think.

I agree. That is why I got an analogue. It may be a bit sub-conscious, but it is easier.

I used to have this big steel Soviet watch with a 24-hour dial - so that noon was down where 6 is normally. it was great to watch people trying to see what time it was by peeking at my wrist and then doing a double-take at how wrong it looked. no idea what happened to that thing, either, dammit. last night there was a stupid yuppie in my bar complaining about smokers. he was wearing one of those new Swatches that you pump up to fit snugly. i rest my case.

i have a sterling silver quartz watch on that is a cheap immitation of those museum watches called Movado.. it's ok except it has a crack in the middle of the face of watch, doesn't have an alarm or anything, and is more of a bracelet than a watch..
