I'm leaving Saturday morning for a two week tour of Florida on my bike and now a damn hurricane is heading there. I blame Britain!

I always thought those hurricanes originated off the coast of Africa. Maybe it is a side effect of British colonialism.
Two-week vacation ANYWHERE sounds like heaven, hurricane or no. I should not complain, because I just discovered I have more vacation days left than I realized. I'll be sure to check the hurricane prediction before I decide how to use them.
But if anything goes wrong, I'll remember to blame Britain.

Yes! Hurricane or not, I am getting on my bike and LEAVING tomorrow morning. 16 days. You are right, Amelia... anywhere will be good enough. First stop is High Springs to visit a friend not seen in 15 years, then to Tampa to visit my artist stepson and his cronies. Then to Daytona for the big bike rally. Then to St. Augustine, on to Savanah and finally Athens GA to see my older daughter. No reservations. No laptop. Cellphone will be kept OFF, brought for emergencies. ...You must be pumped to find you have unrealized vacation. Go for it!

Now I am deeply envious, even thought I have got the Elvis Costello tickets.
But I hope you will mooch onto your hosts' computers every now and then to post us a NERD or two about the trip. I did it from Paris, you know. What is the point if you can't be faithful? The children will run amok.
Bon Voyage! Have some major FUN!
