SATAN DRIVES TO WORK

  Neat.

27 December 2000

4:11 PM: So, in theory Today I would have been talking about Dinner With Friends, the current play at Berkeley Rep, because I would have seen it last night. But, silly me - I believed the guy I talked to on the phone who told me, "Oh, no problem, I can exchange your tickets over the phone, you don't have to come here and get new ones." So the late young Penny and I showed up only to be turned rudely away by the snippy little shit at the box office - "We have no tickets for you! What are those? Your old tickets? Give those to me! I shall destroy them! Buahahaha!" (Artist's interpretation.)

Then after some cursing, we thought, hey, let's go see Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. But it was 8:30 PM and the next show wasn't for two hours. So we just gave up. A popular strategy lately.

I came home, ate a bag of chips, drank Coca Cola, and read the rest of my new Black Company books. In which everyone and pretty near everything dies.

On the other hand, I'm pretty certain I was not exposed to any sniper fire or helicopter gunships blowing up my apartment. Always look on the bright side.

Willfully blind self-indulgent nebbish or amusingly quirky old coot? And how bout that local sports team? Discuss among yourselves.

All names are fake, most places are real, the author is definitely unreliable but it's all in good fun. Yep.
