SATAN DRIVES TO WORK

  What's Next?

2:13 PM: It's a creepy thought. One of zillions. Is the goal to freak us out? Or to kill lots of people? Old-fashioned car bombs can do a job of the latter, but wouldn't unhinge our minds the way that jet did. And they didn't just blow up a building - they rewrote the Manhattan skyline. For years to come - probably for the rest of our lives - everytime we see a movie or a TV show that's set in New York, made before this week, we'll get that establishing shot...

Are they done? Are they waiting until we've calmed down, until we think that even though the horse is gone at least now we do have that barn door locked? I don't know. I sure as hell am not going anywhere near the Transamerica Pyramid or the Golden Gate Bridge for a while.

On the subject of what we need to be thinking about besides putting the people who made this happen into a cage with 4 or 5 feral pigs, I recommend this article from The Guardian (a UK paper), "They Can't See Why They Are Hated".

(Which seems to be an answer, in a way, to this piece from the Chicago Tribune.)

So far, everyone I know and their friends are all OK. In any other way, the details of my day just don't seem worth talking about right now.

7:28 PM: Oh, this will help lots:

  • The House of Representatives passed a resolution Thursday, calling on all Americans to fly the national flag.

  • Willfully blind self-indulgent nebbish or amusingly quirky old coot? And how bout that local sports team? Discuss among yourselves.
