A relatively easy formula I read once, in _Farewell to Fatigue_ by this very silly British osteopath: Take a weekend when you have nothing else to do. Each day, take a brisk walk, not a stroll, for about three hours. All you can eat is oranges and water, but you can have as many oranges and as much water as you want. Probably best not to do this two weekends in a row. It actually works. Of course a lifestyle of sloth and beer means I just got fat again, but if the idea is to take it off for a limited time, that's not as much of a problem.
