Now that's what I wanted from the start! (What? Do I stand in the way of joy and enthusiasm? So bite me) And its good to critique - shows the brain is in gear, the thought process ongoing....

I do get the feeling that a lot of his lyrics would be gratingly simple, I prefer having to think...not being able to get a song unless you put the effort in - it makes the whole song....the whole language, for me.

f' you too... besides, you KNOW my brain is in gear! I would say my roots are in R&R (with some Metallica thrown in) and the album in question just hit that nerve. I don't purchase music -- I just like to listen to different stuff on the radio... much in the same way I don't like to purchase books and instead use the library... I'm assuming you are referring to Sinatra's thought-provoking "scooby-dooby-doo" lyrics. Jeez, Kid. Go listen to "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway" 150 million times and give us a report what eh? Preferrably "Carpet Crawlers", because, you know...you've gotta get in to get out!

I don't want to reply to this because I'd say something I regret. But I'll let you know and read and understood your last comment.

Hey, life is chock full of regrets! So, regret away my friend! We can, of course, actually be friends here in Taterland.... Glad we have an understanding....

This is my point. Everything I ever write either here or elsewhere is blown dramatically out of context, and people end up taking things the wrong way, which upsets me, because I never mean to offend anybody. Unless I do, but then I really go for them, taking no prisoners, as they say.

But I accept the branch of friendship you hold up. And thank you.

de nada... "Badly Drawn Boy" was the guest on MBE this morning! 107 degrees here today -- shit. THAT means it'll be 150 this summer!!! A 'nuclear summer' I believe it's called... Ta!

Thanks for that! Looks like I'll have to wing my way over to KCRW.com.... (Its his 4th session for MBE, you know!) By the by, what do you make of him. Obviously, I enthuse, its the simplicity in his lyrics that I like - not a pop simplicity, but an idiosyncratic, quirky simplicity.
Things like 'its misty within reason' you can't get anywhere else. And he can play a few instruments too.

And we has rain so heavy it hurt today. So we'll have a good summer too. I hope.

Although I did study Music Appreciation and also Music Theory, I just don't enjoy having to explain WHY I like something. I just do. Certain sounds move me, for whatever reason, that's all... Monsoon-like conditions today, which I like.

Try that argument with my housemates...especially in negative! We've had a really good day today...but I'm absolutely bushed after it.
