I helped create the wagon the band now sits atop. I became a fan of basketball when the Bulls employed Michael Jordan. You would only need watch one performance of Michael to become a fan of his and the sport. Lance kicked ass. (Note here, Johnny, that I am on your side - you can support who you want when you want for me) Does it matter how long you've been following a certain person/team? Or is judging people (and eschewing those who do not fit a certain timescale) by that criterion a way of trying to ensure a level of reflected glory, and therefore ultimately selfish? I think it is. To that end, it strictly means that only people present at the genesis of anything have the right to claim support of it through time - and where does that leave people who couldn't have been there (Youngsters, non-nationals, all sorts). Put simply, who is this guy to come on and accuse Potatoe-ers of being band-wagon jumpers in a) Ignorance, and b) A perfect example of the mind-set I have (vaguely) outlined above.
