Right. I'm seething after our college made us take a General Studies exam, which was ridiculously easy. Over the next few days, I'll leave questions down and see if you can answer them. ALL are taken from the paper. 1) What is significant about July 4?

	July 4 is when Abraham Lincolm comes out of the log cabin, and if he sees his shadow, we have 5 more weeks of summer.

	Well, i sat the exam, and im pretty confident i got this one right. Its the day before my dads birthday, right? Well thats what I put!

I think it's when fat, pasty people from the Midwest travel across country in their mobile homes to crowd up the seashores like lemmings, only to 'accidentally' set their dog's face on fire (and leave him blind) due to an errant flash from the sparklers they brought AND also 'accidentally' grind up Gramma's legs in the jetski they rented earlier "Because I only had six sixpacks!" AND 'accidentally' kill an innocent bystander after shooting off rounds from the concealed weapon they had "Because by God this is America!" and if you CAN'T have a good time because of some past moment in American History, then, well, you're evil. This one was tough, and optional, so i left it and went to talk about whether all religions are basically the same! Yeah-I can talk bullshit! That they all have a 'deity' (that's a god - non-Latinates) or that people do them all. In essence the fact that people believe in some outside force is the same, but then not all outside forces are religion based. Look at Karma, (what goes around comes around typed principle) and Fate. We yanks imagine a Victorian sort of answer, like "All a bunch of nasty heathens from abroad." But (hint, hint) isn't one monotheistic and the other polytheistic? And in fact, many Hindus consider their faith something they are born to and not a "philosophy" or "practice" which can be adopted by others not so born. Karma and Fate are spiritual concepts, but they don't have all the accessories that constitute a full-blown religion. I think a Religion must have at least a published sacred text or text outlining the major beliefs, laws, and interactions with the Divine (i. e., services); and some sort of leadership, if only within the traditional political structure. While the specifics could vary quite dramatically from tribe to tribe, I believe that all the native peoples had some common threads in their overall spiritual views. Joseph Campbell writes about a lot of them.
