Reply if you have too much spare time. by Kid. on 2001-02-05 06:21:42

Or make the topic too. Each time you drop in with too much time on your hands fill in this topic. It is an 'Unofficial Looselippers Sadness Scale' idea I had. I'll do it. You do the same/.

I win! I win! -- I have WAY TOO MUCH spare time! -- more so than any of you... I forgot to take a break today (because I was so busy), but, when it's ALMOST time to go home doesn't it seem like a waste of a good break? And spare time? I would like some MORE spare time as a consolation prize... if it's no trouble --

There is no such thing as too much spare time. You can all give me any surplus time you find on your hands. I can use it for naps.

ahhhhhhhh....spare time! (Note to Tetra: Can't spare any spare time -- sorry) Actually, this coffeehouse I'm in has QUITE a disturbing atmosphere -- I call it: Christianity 666 i.e. There's a coven of old crones sitting in here doing their 'thing'-- (disguised as church ladies, of course...) Rather creepy. Midwest snowbirds... The coffee and pastries are just plain bad, but -- hey! use of computer is prime-time for spare time! Will write later during the next spate of spare time, Adieu!

Hiya Kid... I hereby christen myself Queen-of-Spare-Time (like you even care!) As someone somewhere once said: I'm a legend in my own mind. Today is Abe Lincoln's B-Day, so, uh, Happy Birthday to another great Aquarian! Back at the only coffeehouse that ISN'T a Starbucks! Yea... I am bound to support the underdog, always... it's my desiny dammit! Later -

Hey Kid - ... just checking in... Actually, I CREATE spare time for myself -- I consider it an art form, something loosely based on performance art and NOT for theater. It's always a work in progress... One half-hour before work and I'm tippy-typing away to persons unknown... gotta love this cyberspace! I like to relax into work before I actually dive into my work. I'm more of a sprinter with short bouts of intense energy. Long distance running is not my forte -- hence, it takes me half the day to prepare for the other half of the day... it's just my wiring... It's raining here in the California desert where I live -- and how is your day going?

I have started to steal time. I take it from when I should be doing something constructive and do nothing at all. It is fun. Oh, today I not only stole some time, but was given some as I made a journey (to uni) that normally takes an hour in but 15 minutes. I was quite happy with this. For those of you unable to locate time, remember how it flies when you are having fun. So, throw a party and look to the ceiling. If this helps I would like a small thank you, maybe in the form of wine or noodles. Or both.

Today is day off spare time -- one of THE best spare time allotments I can think of! Oh -- you remember the joke: Why did the little boy throw the clock out the window? Ha! What else about time... a friend once did a water-color and wrote her own quote on it: " Time is the accountability of Infinity " Peace.

Kid: Yes, well, let me say this about that... So I had a Tylenol PM hangover this AM and lolled about in bed 'til, oh, about 10'ish, whereupon it takes me yet another one-and-a-half hours for morning ablutions, yoga, lounging, meditation, music et al... So I leave the house around noon'ish and get in the car and DRIVE! I love to drive. Yep, it's true! This is genuine spare time at it's finest -- my personal fave... Oh - major realization! I need my OWN computer now... so I am doing my homework for the best deals. I wish every you all a FABulous day and grant you all mucho extra spare time...

I am sleep-deprived (depraved?) today. Ecch. But, today is payday, so I forced myself to hop to and merge into the day and the traffic... I COULD NOT GET TO SLEEP LAST NIGHT! I believe I sort of passed out, exhausted, somewhere after 3AM... So right now at work I am waiting for the checks to be delivered and writing you all fuck-all. The way I feel is how my supervisor once called it: Internal weather. Outside it's sort of sunny, but INSIDE there's some fog passing through... Yawn. Sweet dreams sweet Romeos

Heyo... Well today is sunny Saturday (the START of my work week) and all is well.. I am easing into the work day by hanging out with my spare time -- we get along so well! First stop -- Worm Nerd, of course... (what an addict I yam!) -- then, it's on to stalking Kid and his topic... Oh -- and let me say this about that: The Taliban are currently THE worst slime on the planet! Torture and abuse of women BECAUSE they are women, and, destruction of ANCIENT HISTORICAL/SPIRITUAL sites is more than frightening -- it's the very definition of evil... HAve a nice day! :)

I believe evil it weighted by it's proximity. As evil moves away, it's magnitude is the reciprocal of the square of it's distance from you. Mm hmm.
Re: Re: Reply if you have too much spare time. by girl on 2001-03-03 16:33:01  |  Reply to this
Tommie: You are, of course, assuming that I'M assuming evil is over there somewhere and being nebulous... Will you PLEASE 86! that pesky English language and reduce your (extremely brilliant) conclusion to it's most logical mathematical form? You know, something I can wrap my cortex around... P.S. 2nd argument: Evil is/= Everywhere Love ya!

all's quiet in libraryland... I have the back workroom to myself -- just the way I like it! Our latest item? Books on CD. I like the smaller, neater packaging. Books on tape are annoying, mostly because PEOPLE don't rewind them. Then I have to. And that's annoying... Soon, I imagine, they will clone all of us and find a way to put us on discs as well -- makes for good sci-fi speculation at any rate...

Books on CD? This is a great idea! I knew some were available, but a more widespread book/cd combo would be more than welcome. I'm thinking especially about poetry on CD. Just strikes me as a good thing.

Erm.....hello......me? Well, narrator would be anyone. Stephen Fry, Michael Palin, Dame Judi Dench. As long as it isn't someone with a really annoying screech-y voice. I have a wonderful copy of Leslie Phillips reading The Owl And The Pussycat. Ding-dong!

Well..... I can tell you who it would NOT be! Does anyone even remember Robby Benson (the actor?). Apparently HE finds work doing readings... I was appalled... And Steve Buscemi may have wry wit and makes good off-the-wall movies, but he most certainly should NOT be doing readings either... I tried to listen to him do: Elmore Leonard's " Pagan Babies". I fell asleep. Anyway, I believe in keeping the actual printed page alive and well -- god bless free press! and all those various and sundry art rags floating around. Reading is a good discipline, I think. But I ramble... It's payday again and I'm distacted. The money's already been spent. Nice talkin' to ya Kid (et al)... More on a later date! P.S. For anyone who cares -- may latest library takes include: a great art book called: "Made in California" -- I didn't want to return it! Also, "The Adversary" (a new book) and all the librarians were raving about a young adult book called: "Stargirl". Also I read "The New Yorker" avidly. See ya!

The tricky bit about a CD is making sure you resume where you broke off the last time. A tape stops right where you are at, but many CD players do not have that feature. Bookmarking is a hassle. It's still an imperfect user interface there.

In Austin texas some nights we have live musical festivals and being that this is the selfappointed live music capital of the world it happens more nights then not, i go out and listyen to music with my amigos and tonight was the City limits fest and the last band i really remember being up close and personal with was Rem. They played for hours and i never tired of listening to their music. I threw the frisbee back when it hit me in the head near the stage and also kicked a soccer ball back to a child when it landed in front of me (you see the venues in austin when its a big deal are outdoor stages and they are located in places near the river near and even on the soccer fields near Zilker park and so people relax and play and listen to sweet music and its quite heavenly at times and then soccer balls and kites and frisbees and other odd things hit you and make you realize everything compliments everything at these events) and so I tossed back beer after fucking beer followed by some tea with mushrooms picked out of south texas cow patties and now i'm freely typing like i do when i forget what the fuck i'm typing about but because i can type rather quickly i just keep on typing and lose the point as to what i;m saying. Oh yahhh, I had a wonderful time today and night and now i'm off to bed.
